Department of Physics, University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore organized an International Workshop on One Dimensional (1D) Nanostructures on 18th December 2018. The workshop was financially supported by a research project No. PSF/NSFC-II/Eng/P-UET (03) under Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF). The workshop was envisioned to have the insight of the basic concepts of nanotechnology and to expose them to various new and advanced techniques in the field of research. This workshop aimed to orient the participants to the latest discoveries and new research breakthroughs and applications in the field of the nanotechnology. The event was intended mainly for the researchers, faculty members and local students of various disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering. Vice Chancellor Government College University (GCU) Lahore Prof. Dr. Hassan Amir Shah participated as chief guest.

Secretary Workshop Prof. Dr. Rehana Sharif and Dr. Shamaila Shahzadi from Department of Physics highlighted the theme of workshop. International Speakers Dr. Liu Yizhou, Dr. Xiaomin Zhang from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and Dr. Sultan Akhtar, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were the resource persons of the workshop. Moreover, Dr. Aneeqa Sabah from LCWU, Dr. Naeem Ahmad from International Islamic University, Islamabad and Dr. Khalid Javed from Forman Christian College University enlightened the participants by their lectures. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid Rafique was the chief guest of concluding ceremony of the workshop. The valedictory address was given by Prof. Dr. Anwar Latif, Chairman Physics Department, UET. He gave concluding remarks about the technical sessions of the Workshop and thanked all the resource persons for coming over and delivering the lectures in the workshop.
The workshop was comprised of two technical sessions contained 06 lectures given by the resource persons. About 150 participants including faculty, postgraduate students, and research scholars from various institutions participated in this international workshop. At the end, shields and certificates were distributed among guests and organizers and participants.
